Configure push notifications and alerts.
Church Directory Plus sends notifications to keep you informed about relevant activity. You can customize which notifications you receive based on your preferences and permissions.
Accessing Notification Settings
- Open the navigation drawer (☰ menu)
- Expand the Settings section
- Tap Notification Settings
Notification Types
Administrative Notifications
These notifications are only visible if you have the corresponding permissions:
📝 New Member Application
- Permission Required: Manage Member Applications
- When Sent: A prospective member submits an application
- Action: Review and approve/decline the application
Toggle: "Notify on new member application"
✏️ Profile Update Request
- Permission Required: Manage Profile Update Requests
- When Sent: Someone submits a profile change request
- Action: Review and approve/decline the changes
Toggle: "Notify on new profile update request"
Personal Notifications
Available to all members:
📋 Profile Request Status
- When Sent: Your profile update request is approved or declined
- Information: Includes admin notes if provided
- Action: View your updated profile
Toggle: "Notify on profile request status change"
Birthday Notifications
Birthday notifications let you never miss a church member's special day. See the Birthday Notifications section for detailed information on subscribing to and managing birthday reminders.
Notification Delivery
📱 Push Notifications
- • Appear on your device's lock screen
- • Show in notification center
- • Require notification permissions enabled
🔔 In-App Notifications
- • Badge count on notifications icon
- • Listed in the Notifications screen
- • Persist until you dismiss them
Device Settings
For push notifications to work, you must enable notifications at the system level:
🍎 iOS
- 1. Go to Settings → Church Directory Plus
- 2. Enable Notifications
- 3. Choose notification style (banners, alerts)
🤖 Android
- 1. Go to Settings → Apps → Church Directory Plus
- 2. Tap Notifications
- 3. Enable desired notification channels
Troubleshooting
Not receiving notifications? Check the following:
- Device Settings – Ensure notifications are enabled at the OS level
- App Settings – Verify the specific toggle is ON
- Permissions – Some notifications require specific app permissions
- Battery Saver – Battery optimization can block notifications
- Force Refresh – Close and reopen the app
